Description

This is a wonderful compilation. I grew up reading Superman and fondly remember when Supergirl showed up. (I was 8 when her spaceship crashed down to Earth.) This book starts with the three-wishes story where Jimmy Olsen wished a Super "woman" into existence, then continues with each appearance of Supergirl in sequence. I'd forgotten how many issues it was while she had to live in the orphanage. There are a few stories that are duplicates, appearing in both SHOWCASE SUPERMAN and SHOWCASE SUPERGIRL. You can tell that different writers were involved, because in the first story, Supergirl doesn't know she is related to Superman until he mentions Jor-el's name. In other stories, the recap shows Supergirl telling Superman that she is his cousin.
